Lord Wolfson, the chief executive of Next, has said that clothing prices could fall later this year, after the unprecedented surge in cotton and factory costs which hit the textile industry over the last six months have shown signs of cooling down.
The retailer suffered from an 8pc increase in costs in the first half of the year, which it passed on to customers – a move that lost the company some sales, Lord Wolfson said.
